Papershell Micropress

Papershell Micropress is seeking submissions on the theme of FIRST PAGES for our Winter issue. This is our annual special issue and it will be slightly different: we are asking writers to submit the first page of their novels, novellas, or noveletes.

Your submission must be the first page of your work. We accept all genres, at all stages, so your submission can come from a completed project, or a work in progress. We are especially interested in abandoned works (i.e., the unloved!). We also require writers to provide a short paragraph (approx. 200 words - but we can be flexible) to discuss their book as a companion piece. The content of the description is up to the writer, but preferably it will outline the projected plot and/or the themes of the book. Don't overthink it - this is your personal space to chat about your work. You are not pitching your book to an agent, you are talking to a group of fellow writers who want to get to know you and your book.

This issue is dedicated to writers who work on long-form projects; if you don't write short fiction, it's hard to showcase your work and we want to give you a chance to do this in this issue.

For detailed instructions, please see our dedicated issue page

You can find more about us on Instagram @papershell_press , where we share details on our open calls, themes, and inspirations to help guide contributors.

Looking for readers for your work?
Add yourself to this spreadsheet; and if you see anyone there you think would be a good match for you, get in touch with them. Nice.
