Ways of Reading: Marathon Reading of Bernadette Mayer's Midwinter Day
Dr Rebecca Kosick / Bristol Poetry Institute
Sunday 4th December, Spike Island
Like Rosemary Mayer, Bernadette Mayer garnered visibility during the second-wave feminist movement in the US. Midwinter Day demonstrates Mayer’s experimental poetic forms which examine the complexities of gender, sexuality and daily family life as a woman.
It has become an international tradition to hold annual marathon readings of Midwinter Day and this event will be the first of its kind hosted in Bristol. Visitors are welcome to take part in reading aloud or simply listening to experience the written word in an embodied and durational way within an exhibition setting. The event will be facilitated by Rebecca Kosick, co-director of the Bristol Poetry Institute.
If you are interested in reading aloud, please email myself directly - diana.lage@spikeisland.org.uk
