Screenwriting Taster Workshop – 3 hours, relaxed and friendly – 14th Dec

Join us for a relaxed, friendly 3-hour taster workshop where we’ll explore what makes a great story tick.

We’ll chat about structure, character, theme and genre, and look at how ideas grow into scripts. If you’ve got a story idea, bring it along – we’ll share thoughts and write loglines together.

No experience needed – just curiosity and enthusiasm.

The session is run by myself, a BAFTA-winning industry expert and university senior film lecturer

This is a beginner-friendly, informal session, perfect if you’re thinking about joining future screenwriting workshops. Work alone or in pairs, get inspired, and enjoy a creative afternoon that won’t break the bank.

Venue: The Greenhouse, Hereford St, Bedminster, Bristol BS3 4NA (tucked amongst the greenery, near the bridge by Bedminster train station)

Come along, meet others, and see where your story could take you.

Call for interest: independent and small press authors

I'm hoping to organise a full-day event for independent & small press
authors in the Bristol/ Bath area, a book fair where you can
* sell your books direct to the public
* meet new readers and
* network
A possible venue is The Space in Keynsham, and possible dates are April
or May 2026. All genres welcome. To be viable, I'd need at least 25
writers to attend, with each (sorry!) paying about a tenner towards
venue costs. Publicised on the basis of "great books you won't find in
Waterstones" sort of thing. "Come and meet your next favourite author."
If you'd be interested, please email me at richard@richardgadz.co.uk

Life and Death authors will read and discuss their work. Copies will be available for sale and signing.

We will also be announcing the call for submissions for our second collection on the theme of FEAR, and revealing news about new projects from Suspensions Press.

Suspensions Press: https://suspensionspress.co.uk/
Hi everyone,

Following the successful launch of https://thebristolschoolofwriting.co.uk/ and the first anthology of stories and poems, I'm starting a new project, a very simple publishing house, Suspensions Press.

Submissions of fiction, essays, memoir and poetry up to 40,000 words. I will collaborate with you to edit your manuscript, and selected authors will be published. The books will be printed and sold via Amazon, and you will need to be active in promoting your work. Interested? Have a look... https://suspensionspress.co.uk/
