The Bi Pod Bulletin
So, what have you been thinking about?
I’ve been thinking about all the work of caring for a body, and also about how easy it is for me to defer and reject caring for myself physically. Which has also led me to thinking about how scary it can be to ask for care and to trust someone to tend to your body. I want to be able to give you some succinct observation - maybe a reflection on how the oppressive systems we live under condition us to run ourself into the ground, or maybe something about the beauty of trusting other people with your body, or even just some life-hack-y way that I’ve tricked myself into taking care of this soft shell that I am/in - but I don’t have anything to offer you other than the fact that this is on my mind and what I’m struggling with. It isn’t the first time - particularly not in the last few years - and the truth is it probably won’t be the last. Is thinking about it the first step in trying/doing/solving/healing? I think so. I hope so.

The Podcast
In last week’s episode, we talked about queer joy from our childhood, and about supporting trans youth in Texas and queer youth in Florida as their states pass laws that threaten their safety and privacy. You can listen to the episode wherever you get your podcasts. See our last newsletter for a list of resources for folks who wish to directly support queer kids in Texas and Florida.
It’s Bisexual+ Health Awareness Month!
We’ll talk about this more in next week’s episode, but for now, we thought we’d share some queer health resources and events going on this month.
You can find a list of Bisexual+ Health Awareness Month events hosted by The Bisexual Resource Center here. Many of the events are virtual!
Sage usa is an organization dedicated to supporting queer elders. Operators at the SAGE National LGBTQ+ Elder Hotline are bi+ #affirming folks certified in crisis response, and will listen with no judgment. Call 877-360-LGBT(5428) if you or someone you love is in need.
The Bisexual Resource Center’s website has a great list of sexual health resources, including education and domestic violence resources. There is also a downloadable PDF for healthcare providers seeking to learn more about caring for their queer patients.
The Human Rights Campaign has a downloadable PDF guide to Coming Out as Bisexual to Your Doctor, which includes some helpful context about bisexual people’s experience in the healthcare system and tools for self advocacy.
