BROKEN Launch Notification Page is LIVE! Here's a look at what we're working on
This is an exciting day, because with a little less than a month left till we launch the itchfunding campaign for Broken: a Tragic Romance Game, we are ready to start getting some excitement and sharing more details. First and very importantly, you can now signup to be notified when the campaign goes live for Broken. Use this link, and please share this link so we can build a launch day list. http://bit.ly/BrokenLaunch.
Sharing that link would be such a huge and meaningful help to make our crowdfunding for the game a success. In addition to all that, for the first time we're revealing some of our art design for the game. The image above is the itch page banner, and showcases the broken logo design. Initial design for this logo was done by Martin Nerurkar, and the itch art and book cover art was created by me in consultation with layout and graphic designer Jean Verne. I really like how it came out! This gives you a look at the redesign of the book cover, which follows the same logo design.
Here's another adaptation that you can share to help spread the word about our launch notification page!
Let's talk about where things are with the project. We've put together our team, and we're thrilled by the amazing designers, editors, and consultants we're working with to make the final version of Broken the best game that it can be. The themes and gameplay of Broken can be very intense, and so with this subject matter we always knew that safety was one of the most important elements of the game. We're thrilled that Beau Jagr Sheldon of Thoughty Games, the creator of the Script Change safety toolkit and designer of the ttrpg Turn, has joined our team as safety designer and consultant.
Another priority of mine was to work with people with vast knowledge and experience of two-player games. Editing for the ashcan e-book is done by my spouse and Pod of Love partner Melissa Wallis. For the final edition of the game, we're excited to be joined by Zack Garth, game designer and co-host of the Heart Points podcast. Zack's expertise with two-player ttrpgs makes him ideal as our final designer, and we're so excited to work with him on this project.
Consulting for the entire project, from game design to launch, is none other than Jeff Stormer, host of Party of One and designer of a number of incredible games like Anyone Can Wear the Mask and Mission: Accomplished.
Layout and graphic design consultation comes from Jean Verne, whose layout design is seriously amazing. Jean worked with me to create the logo design, and is consulting on putting together the itchfunding page.
The official soundtrack for Broken was made by my favorite ttrpg music curator and TikTok influencer Sam Leigh. Want to get in the mood to be sad and play some tragic romance stories? Check out our official Spotify playlist!
So that is our team for Broken! We've been working hard behind the scenes to get the game ready for launch. Working with Jean on design, we've redesigned the book cover to match our logo design, and it looks beautiful. I can't wait for you all to have the incredibly beautiful e-book of the game.
We're also preparing some really fun things to get you excited for the game and give you insight into play. We're creating some actual plays both for podcast and stream with a really great cast. Pod of Love veterans like Shawn Delp and Meghan Martin recorded a truly heartbreaking actual play for our mini-series on Pod of Love. Over the weekend, Mel and I filmed ourselves going to some thrift stores to gather our ten artifacts to break during the game. We recorded our game for the Pod of Love mini-series also. Subscribe to Pod of Love wherever podcasts are found so you don't miss these really great actual plays. We're also putting together a really great video series with some of our favorite actual play streamers.
We're continuing to refine both the ashcan edition of the game which you will get right away when you back the game, but working toward our final design of the game both for rules and layout. We want the game to be easy to learn, play, and process.
As we get closer to launch, we'll be scheduling as many press appearances as possible. We would really love for you to get involved. Sharing what we're doing with others on social media is absolutely the best thing you can do. Sign up to get notified on launch, and let others know about the sign up link. Thank you all so very much for being a part of this journey as we fund and release what is to me more than a game, my divorce memoir, a little piece of my soul. This game means so much to me, and it means so much more to me than I can share with you all that you're a part of this process with me. Seriously, I cannot thank you all enough.
