Lammas and Life being full-on PLUS a sneak peak at the new Community Membership home & name...
brought to you by Tender Being with Harriet
Dear ,

In this (late again) newsletter you'll find:
  • Lammas Reflections & Prompts
  • Ways to work with me in the coming months
  • A sneak peak into the new home and new name for our Community Membership including a mini podcast update
  • Some recommendations from me of stuff I've been learning from, enjoying and some actions you can take
An honest reflection this Lammas

Life has been very full on these last few months. I know these newsletters are late and I also want to share that this comes from a deep humanness and not from a lack of care.

For various reasons related to different health, practical, childcare, covid precautions, sleep etc, life has been very out of rhythm and I've been feeling the unsteadiness from this.

Not to mention the witnessing and trying to do our tiny parts against the devestation happening in Palestine, to the climate and to many parts of the world right now.

Aaaaand another thing is the HEAT.

Those who have been around for a while (or maybe even just those who know what I look like) might know that I'm not meant for the heat. A ginger person with POTS is not a friend of hot weather. I find it very hard physically, and also psychologically - knowing that this is the direction that we are going in with the climate crisis.

I shared a post recently on (both) my instagrams, talking about the ways that heat can make us more prone to being reactive, and that this makes sense. Our physiology is under stress and we have less capacity to deal with additional 'life stress'. You can read more about it here.

All of this to say that life has been a lot, and also I am so honoured to have this community to connect with and to be able to write to you all and open up doors for more connections. I have been slowly beavering away in any spare moments, to work on some new things - mainly the move and re-naming of the Community Membership - you can read more about that below in the next section.

The Lammas invitation is to engage with
These Prompts

Because I am not publishing a Lammas podcast (please see below for the update/reason for this!) I thought I'd share these Lammas prompts that I use for the live Celtic Wheel sessions and the podcast episodes.

I really like the interpretation of Lammas offering two themes, one of sacrifice and letting go, and another of creation and gratitude.

Lammas is the grain harvest - it can be seen as a time to celebrate and be grateful for all that has been growing and become this harvest that is now reaped. And also, in the process of harvesting the grain there can be an element of sacrifice - the small animals that sheltered in the fields lose their home, it's the end of the growth phase of the year. We can think about what we want to celebrate and to honour what we are letting go.

Here are the prompts, that you can use in whatever way feels right for you - this might be journaling, reflecting, drawing, movement, discussion:

On Sacrifice/Letting go

I am letting go of…

I will allow myself to stop…

On Creation and Gratitude

I see that I am creating…

I am grateful that I have…

I'd love to hear any reflections - you can reply directly to this email and chat to me!

If you want to connect with a group of us to mark the next Celtic Wheel Festival, you can join us on the Community Membership (next Festival will be Autumn Equinox in September). See below for details!
An update on the Community Membership and a quick (last) note on Tender Little Beings:

🌿 Community Membership becomes The Mycelium 🍄

We are finally moving, from Substack to The Portal! You can read more about the details and the reasons on this most recent substack piece I wrote.

The basics are: The Portal is a much more ethical (and exciting!) place to be hosting our community. Sally who has setup The Portal is a specialist in e-learning and online community spaces, and has created The Portal Collective inspired by the principles of permaculture.

I will be moving our current members over this month and opening the membership to new members from late August / early September.

The Membership is available on a 'pay what you can' basis, so whatever your budget you can join us! There are three tiers including a free option for anyone who needs it.

The membership includes:

🍄 Monthly Home Practice -
A mix of prompts and resources drawing from somatics, mindfulness, nature connection, with space for sharing and connection with the community.

🍄 Monthly Community Connection Session (60 mins) -
Gently facilitated monthly space to come together to connect around the previous month’s invitation.

🍄 Celtic Wheel Events (2 hours) -
A space to come together to mark the Festivals of the Celtic Wheel of the Year. I will guide the group through invitations from nature connection, meditations, journaling and somatic exercises, and closing with a restorative EcoNidra™ Meditation.

🍄 Private podcast (NEW) -
I am going to be moving my Celtic Wheel Podcasts episodes to become part of The Mycelium. These are personal, and it feels right to move them into our Community Space.

🍄 Community Space -
An open forum for us to connect, grow, learn and unlearn together
.

Below I've shared a little snapshot of what it looks like inside (on the mobile version), as I'm finalising all the details! So excited to welcome current and new members into this space soon. It's very intuitive and feels so good to be moving somewhere that reflects our values.

If you'd like to be added to the waiting list for joining the community later this month/ early next month then simply reply to this email and let me know!

🌿 Tender Little Beings - last time being shared in here

I appreciate that none of you signed up to hear about my newer venture of 'Tender Little Beings', and so I promise this will be the last time I share the offerings in this space.

I have set up a mailing list that is about to be activated for this work, so if you are interested in leaning more and chatting and learning with me about this stuff then I'd love to welcome you over there.

I have space for a few sleep clients - if you or someone you know would like support with navigating baby / toddler / children's sleep then do get in touch. (Link to book and find more details below)

I am have created a special offering for anyone expecting a baby who would like to learn about newborn sleep, attachment and coregulation (Link to book and find more details below).

As I say, I won't mention this again in this forum. If you do want to stay up to date with it then come on over to the mailing list and join me there!

My Recommendations

These aren't intended as a reading / to do list - just a little insight into the stuff I'm exploring and an invitation to join me if any of it peaks your interest!

Here are my recommendations for this newsletter:

✍️ Substack - Today is Andrea's 50th Birthday
A beautiful and grief filled love letter from Meg to her late partner Andrea Gibson. Both poets and beautiful writers, Andrea died this year after four years of living with cancer. This is such a beautiful love letter to Andrea and to their ongoing love.

📺 TV - Austin, BBC Iplayer
This is an Australian / British crossover where a famous writer discovers he has an adult son that he wasn't aware of from a very short affair decades previously. Austin (the son who is Australian and autistic) is played by Michael Theo in his acting debut, and he had a lot of input into the scripting to ensure that the character felt authentic and rich.
