Things! GOLD TEETH Beta, Book Delay, Doomsong, Poor Old Jim
Welcome, bold adventurers, to the TEETH newsletter! This is a (sort of) weekly transmission about our explorations in the very secret land of Tabletop Roleplaying-Games.
What appears within this letter is written and compiled by veteran game critic and designer, Jim Rossignol, and former Mojang alumni and famed illustrator, Marsh Davies! Why not come and join us over on the TEETH Discord?
Free tooth emojis for everyone!
Hello, you.
Links! And a video of Doomsong.
Haven’t got a 3. this time, sorry. More stuff coming soon.
Hello, you.
If you are a GOLD TEETH backer you have probably have noticed by now that you have a link to the GOLD TEETH beta in your Kickstarter inbox. Go get it! We’re looking for all kinds of feedback here, so let us know what you think, and what typos you detect.
Our latest update on Kickstarter also brought the grim news that the book is being delayed until next year. This is because I (Jim) have been seriously ill over the summer, and spent more than my fair share of time in hospital. It’s been dreadfully frightening and exhausting and isn’t over yet, so we’ll need more time to get the book done: the new delivery window is May 2026. Apologies for this deep disappointment, but it really is out of our hands, and we’re working hard to get where we need to be.

LINKS!
THING OF THE WEEK: Doomsong. I’ve had this for a little while, but haven’t had a chance to really talk about it. If you like the TEETH books, and we have to assume that you do, then we really think you will get a kick out of Doomsong, which is just an incredible book in much the same sort of area of grotesque fantasy. (Books, in fact, as there’s a big campaign tome too, if you can get hold of it.) And I suspect you are going to want to pick this up. It even inspired me to make a video! And you don’t have to take my word about Doomsong being solid: If you’re a Quinns backer then he wrote a substantial (and very positive) post about it, too. (The embed preview is looking a bit sketchy on Buttondown, so hopefully this works, if not feel free to hit this link.) This three minute dip took me vastly longer than it would have done just to write 1000 words, so please do try to enjoy it.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ckA4DOsMd7kActually I’ll probably do a few videos like this. I have a bunch of stuff I feel needs to be actually shown, not just chatted about. Show don’t tell, that’s the rule, right? I am not sure it is.
Anyway, I also wrote a thing about planning to run a space game campaign over on Old Men Running The World.
What do you make of Jay Dragon’s Expressionist Games Manifesto? “Expressionist games are negotiated experiences shaped by the unresolvable tension between mechanically-imposed external worlds and passionate inarticulate internal worlds.”
Pallas caught my attention: “PALLAS is a surrealist fantasy role playing game, inspired by literature from Jane Austen to Jorge Luis Borges. Here, you may dance the night away with a horse and your dead mother, before running away with your lover to become a dress.”
Over in Forged In The Dark land, the Kickstarter for The Last Caravan is extremely appetising.”a cars and aliens role-playing game about a midwinter roadtrip in the wake of alien invasion.” This is exactly Our Sort Of Thing.
Wyrd Science issue 7 is available! Get it! I am in it, writing about a computer game, so you won’t want to miss that.
Wyrd Science! The tabletop games magazine will all deserve. It’s not an RPG zine, but Stone Club’s Ancient Times is out, and who can resist a zine about old stones? Not us.
However, this summer has left me stone broke (see what i did there?) but if i weren’t then I’d probably be tempted by this incredible collection of the work of master artist Juan Giménez, of Metabarons fame.
More soon! x
Ack - it appears physical versions of Doomsong are unavailable for the US. UK store isn’t shipping to US and I only see the pdfs in their US store. Thanks Obama!
