Tied for 76th Place!
Well if that isn’t a gutting as all hell headline to write.
We’re over one month, all of July, a handful of August days, into EWC. And Team Liquid’s Club Championship points total is… 0! That puts us tied for 76th place. You really, really have to scroll down the table to find us. Which is abnormal after a 2025 and 2024 second place finish.
I’d call the atmosphere a bit, stunned. The spot we find ourselves in could be described as “unlucky” but that doesn’t quite do it justice.
Yes, looking forward there are some bright spots. Magnus. Crossfire and R6 coming out of Brazil. Trackmania. If all goes well they should help us claw our way north on the table. But maybe I have just oversupplied my hopium.
In Lieu of a TL;DR, or any amount of false celebration, we’ll get right to uhhhhhhh the fun recap. 😬
League of Legends: The team competed in MSI Play-Ins. Which, I would argue, they had a good showing. They were undefeated (when they were not playing T1). Ultimately, they lost 0-6 to Faker and T1 were the team that made it through to the main event. Now we’re well on our way in LCS Summer Split! The LoL team did not qualify for EWC.
CS2: NEW PLAYER ALERT! JT and Jorko joined Team Liquid in June and did something a little bit shocking. They beat Vitality 2-0, and then G2 2-0, to qualify for Blast Bounty Summer. Welcome to the stable y’all. And welcome back to my TL-CS Hopium.
Dota 2: A 9-12th place finish losing to Spirit saw TL Dota finishing outside of the points.
Valorant: The Game Changers team in Brazil failed to take home another trophy at BR-Stage 2 this year. They lost to MiBR 2-3 in the grand finals. In a bit more heartbreak, the team was also relegated out of Brazil Challengers.
Rainbow 6: The siege team finished their split (South America Stage 1) in 3rd place. They lose in Upper Finals to Furia and then Lower Finals to Faze.
PUBG: A 13th place EWC finish :(
Marvel Rivals: The only trophy on this whole list, congrats y’all! Ignite America Stage 1, 1st place finish against Swamp Gaming.
MLBB: EWC here may be one of the more shocking results as the team finished in 18th place suffering back to back 0-2 losses resulting in elimination.
Overwatch: NA Stage 2 saw the OW team take a podium finish with their 3rd place result. Ultimately losing there to the Dallas Fuel. Dallas is also the team which knocked them out of EWC where they finished 16th.
Starcraft: Clem did his thing and won a handful of weekly events. Ultimately he did fall in HSC 29 in the grand finals to Serral.
Apex: The 9th place finish at EWC doesn’t properly display how much ass the team kicked in the rest of the event, and even in some of the grand finals.
Chess: Pragg played in the Super Rapid & Blitz Croiatia event and found himself taking home a 3/4th place finish.
EA FC: The EWC sob story ends with EA FC where all players finished outside of the top 8. But, given you have read this far, you probably already knew that. Chris de Boer and Emre Yilmaz and Levi de Weerd all finished 17-24th. Manu and Paulo Neto faired a little better in 9-16th
Despite, well, all of that. Maybe the worst collcetive month in years and years in regards to compettive success. There are some things to look foward to. Namely, spring split is looking good for League. The Apex team continue to preform better. And the Dota team is entering TI off the back of some great online wins.
And in regards to EWC, we do have some very talented chefs cooking. Fingers, crossed.
