Is a Team Liquid Newsletter a good idea?
No clue. But I want to try.
You probably have a handful of direct to inbox communications from TL. Thanks for that. It’s like, important to be able to speak to cool people who care about esports and games and well… us!
I’m willing to bet that not many of you opted into those emails. WHICH IS WHY THIS NEWSLETTER IS DIFFERENT.
We’re here to test a theory.
Hypothesis! There are some fans who:
Loathe Twitter — too much ick
Aren’t on Discord — too much noise.
Are generally off social media. Too much bad for our brains. — My TikTok attention span and Instagram body dysmorphia say Hi!
But these fans love esports and (maybe) Liquid. So they:
Still want to know what’s going on with TL.
Which is where an opt-in, seldom, respectful, hopefully enjoyably written, newsletter can come in. I might subscribe to a newsletter to keep up with my favorite team in this current online hellscape. Maybe you will too? I want to try.
Normally when we launch something new we attempt to have a flashy campaign. This is obviously not that. I’d call this, low key? And that’s kinda scary. What are we doing here? Are we committing to something big? A year long schedule? idk
Anywhoo enough preamble and blah blah. The value proposition here is letting you know what you may have missed across Team Liquid in January.
SOME HEADLINES!
⭐: CLEM IS THE HOMESTORY CUP XXVIII CHAMPION

🔫: Following the heartbreaking 1-2 loss to Black Dragons in the Six Invitational LCQ; Nesk has officially announced his retirement from competitive Rainbow Six Siege.
🐲: Morgan, Quid, and Josedeodo all had their debut on Team Liquid Alienware in the LCS. The team is currently 1-1 (L v C9, W v SR)
📱: Despite a valiant Lower Bracket run at the M7 MLBB Championships- TL:PH fell just short of the Grand Finals in Jakarta. The 4th place finish is considered a disappointment for the "Cavalry" given their roster depth.
SOME DETAIL!
LCS: Did ya catch that the team is now TLAW or Team Liquid Alienware? Alienware signed on as the naming rights sponsor to Team Liquid’s LCS roster as part of their contract renewal. Check out the naming rights announcement video (not CoreJJ’s retirement video) here! Also it’s the LCS again, not the LTA.
DOTA: It’s not… been going well! The team lost to MOUZ and VP in the ESL Birmingham qualifiers. So they won’t be at that LAN. But the team did break the GPM world record (in a content piece)
MLBB: The aforementioned 4th Place for the EWC Champion TL PH Squad. TL ID failed to qualify after a disappointing last place finish in the most recent MPL Indonesia circuit.
CS2: Naf was unable to attend IEM Kraków (family matters) and was replaced by Krimbo. The team missed qualification with a 1-2 record.
VALORANT: VCT EMEA Kickoff is live. A tournament with an Upper, Lower, and MIDDLE? bracket?! The team took losses to both Vitality and Fnatic. Placing them in their final lives in the Lower (lowest?) bracket. They will need to win their next 5 games to qualify in 3rd place to Masters Santiago
EAFC: Levi de Weerd, Paulo Neto, Emre Yilmaz, and ManuBachoore all qualified for the forthcoming FC Pro Open 26! 4 out of 24 players will be representing Team Liquid.
APEX: ALGS Championship wrapped up this month and out of 40 teams, we got… 33rd. Owie.
Chess: Magnus Carlsen continues to represent the Liquid brand at the highest level, securing two Titled Tuesday wins this month.
PUB:G: Welcome cowboi to the team! I am sure there will be truly zero horse puns made about this.
SOME MORE!
New 2026 Jerseys and Pro Kit are here. Right now!

But we didn’t just put clothes in the store.
WE. MADE. A. G. D. BOOK.

Check it all out on tl.gg/store
And finally. Gosh I can’t believe this is so deep down in here. I could probably write a whole newsletter about just this. We filmed a 25th Anniversary documentary that is now live on YouTube. It’s a feature length movie. 96 minutes. That’s exactly 1 minute longer than Pixar’s 2015 Inside Out. And dare I say, better?

Go watch here. Maybe bring some popcorn.
Well, it may be poor form to wait to the bottom of a letter to introduce who the hell I am. I feel like most newsletters are personality driven. But earlier drafts of this had too much yapping before the reporting. So I shuffled myself to the bottom.
Hi I’m Joey. I’m Team Liquid’s Global Director of Production. I heckin’ love TL. I had a tl.net account and used to write blog posts about being a teen traveling to SC2 lans. I was in Seattle when LIQUID WERE DOING IT against LGD. I drove to my interview with Team Liquid in 2020 with a TL horse vinyl sticker on my car. Which, in retrospect, may be embarrassing.
I’m also the guy who is following more newsletters and opening his social media apps chronically less. If I wasn’t so in the thick of Team Liquid; I don’t exactly know how I would get all the news I want in today’s ecosystem.
For a lil’ while I did a weekly video recap, TL;DW, on Twitter for Coinbase where we blew through the Team Liquid news in a few minutes once a week. I had a lot of fun making it; but I would call the success middling at best.
I think in part the reason why it suffered is that I don't know how to solve the puzzle for the people who only care about League and CS but could be ok never reading an update about MLBB. Maybe that's a problem we can figure out together, here.
So again, I don't know how long this will last for. It may not be worth writing just for a handful of people or my own enjoyment. But, ya know, I want to try.
So thanks for reading this far if you did. And double thank you for subscribing.. I would love some feedback on if this is something you would be interested in more of. What value would it bring you? Let’s chat in reddit.com/r/teamliquid or if you want just send me an email: joey@teamliquid.com
