Fraud isn’t random anymore—it’s repeatable, scalable, and alarmingly normalised.

Session 3 — Fighting Fire with Fire: Using AI to Secure Interviews

Varun Gautam (Persistent) • Vikas Singh Baghel (HCLTech) • Daniel Callahan (Veremark)

This was the solutions-heavy session.

Here’s how leaders are actually fighting interview fraud today:

HCLTech

Handles 500k–1M candidates a year.

They now use continuous identity authentication from screening → interviews → onboarding.

Why?

Because “every interview is now a security incident.”

Persistent

Treats AI as a core part of its global hiring fabric:

  • Authenticity checks

  • Interview-to-onboarding continuity

  • Risk flagging

  • Interviewer education to reduce bias

Varun called this the “humanisation of AI”—tech + judgment working together.

Veremark

Highlights identity as just one pillar of integrity.

Companies are now adopting:

  • Pre-hire integrity checks

  • Real-time verification during remote work

  • Post-hire monitoring in the first 30/60/90 days

Daniel’s warning:

The biggest mistake is underestimating the size of the problem.

Closing Fireside — Enterprise Realities of AI-Driven Fraud

The final chat zoomed out to the enterprise lens.

Key insights:

  • Clients now expect “secure-by-design hiring.”

  • A single fraudulent hire can jeopardize long-standing customer relationships.

Their message:
