Belly's birthday 🎂
Buiti/Buenas!
You know when you have a table or a shelf in your house that accumulates things over time-
maybe important things, things you want to remember to look at, broken things you need to fix, things that you're in the process of working on, all on top of each other-
and suddenly it's like, "Whoa! I need to clean this space, it's out of control!" That's what has been happening in my brain the last couple months, and luckily in the past several weeks, my health has finally been stable enough to actually do a lot of the "cleaning"!
One of the things that has needed "cleaning" is having too many directions for my art practice, projects, and products. There are so many things I want to do and learn, which is not a bad thing! But I was struggling to decide on what to work toward on any given day, and I was feeling stuck. After making some decisions and simplifying things, a path forward- creatively, in my business, in my day- has become more clear and it feels really good and refreshing.
Another spot I've been prepping to “clean” is my website. Over the last several years, I've been both accumulating pages and copy as things come up as well as saving pages to come back to in the future to work on in more depth. And I've been letting things play out while I test what art, products, and pages people respond to, so I can make decisions like I’m doing now.
So, you will see some changes on the website over the next month, starting with- as mentioned in the last couple emails- archiving the products in my shop while I work on creating new larger, higher quality mixed media canvases and giclée paper prints you’ll be able to add to your art collection, as well as packs of previous Borikén Mail Club mini-prints.
Here are some color studies of a couple pieces that may end up in the shop. Right now, I'm just having fun playing with them, I'm excited to see how they develop!

Just a note that despite any changes on the website or in the shop, nothing is changing about BMC!

This month, since I've been really focused on "cleaning", I am sending out various designs of my stickers instead of the oracle card mini print as I’d planned. The oracle cards are playing a big part in this shift, and I just need more time to let this shift happen before sending the next card out.
The stickers are durable, scratch-proof, and waterproof!
Happy Birthday, Belly! 🎉
In case you missed it on Bluesky, one of my CEOs (Cattos of the Elastic Oasis) just turned 4 years old! Having been there the moment she was born and knowing that she would be my tiny best friend within the first couple weeks, every birthday we celebrate together means the world to me.
Watch Belly having a birthday morning treat in her trademark meerkat stance here:
(Fun fact: the Home Depot box behind Belly is one of her and Mama Cat’s favorite toys. They love to hide inside it and have secret cat meetings. And sometimes they wait until I walk by to jump out and scare me!)
Things I’ve Been Enjoying
This has playing been on repeat! Outkast is in my top 5 favorite artists of all time, and this arrangement is just SO good.
Revisiting one of my favorite books:
The definition of “the body” that I like the most is that it’s anything that needs support. It’s a human body that needs food, rest, sleep, shelter, care, other humans. It’s a social body that needs to be propelled and maintained by a collective’s aims, the tension of many convergences and disagreements coalescing into a whole. It’s a body of water that needs a solid ground on which to rest and surge.
I like to truncate this definition, to make the body, especially the human kind, simply a thing that needs.
Because what else would support be—but needed?
