A fantastic find by Chris. I’d never heard of Konstantin Tsiolkovsky, but the more I read the more amazed I was by his life. The fact that rather lovely memorials to him have popped up around the world, often with a motif of a young boy looking up at the stars shows his impact on those in the know.

Self taught, he not only came up with many of the theoretical concepts behind space travel years before the first airplane flights, he did practical experiments too, building Russia’s first wind tunnel so he could test his designs of rockets, wings and airships. All as a side hustle to his day job as a teacher.

Couldn’t quite find room to fit this wonderful quote on the bigger text slide:

'Earth is the cradle of humanity, but one cannot live in a cradle forever.' -Konstantin Tsiolkovsky."
