Write With Su: What's New
Dear friends,
My "Write With Su" workshops for creativity and encouragement were both very successful and very satisfying in 2023, so I'm expanding in 2024. I've got more of the same, and some new things as well. I'll start with the exciting new thing, review the ongoing stuff, and, at the end, give you a sneak peak of what else is coming up for Write With Su in 2024.
Please feel free to share this email with interested friends, or to reach out to me with comments, requests, wishes, or friendly flirtation.

New! Response and Revision for Works in Progress
This six-week workshop is for prose works in progress. You'll bring a complete piece or excerpt up to 5000 words (about 20 double-spaced pages) to the group for humane and respectful responses which you can put to use in revising your work, and then we'll take a second look at it as a group. We'll also read a published short story or excerpt for discussion and analysis each week. As you bring your work closer to your vision for it and its own vision of itself, you are going to learn a lot about writing, about thoughtful reading, and about the vital work of revising.
This workshop will meet on six Thursdays beginning February 15 at 7 pm est. To get a taste and help you decide whether it's right for you, I'll be offering a free preview/practice session on Sunday, February 4 at 4 pm est via Zoom.
Full cost of this workshop is $550 per participant. As always, it's pay as led and able, so please reach out to me if you feel led to participate but aren't sure about meeting the cost.
This workshop is limited to four participants.

Write With Su: Writing Workshops for Creativity and Encouragement
A new 8-week session is beginning on February 3. There are openings in the ongoing Saturday morning "Bedhead" writing group, which meets from 10-12 est (9-11 cst) via zoom.
I'm also offering a Tuesday evening group, beginning February 13 and also running for 8 weeks, from 7-9 est, 4-6 pst via zoom.
These are generative writing workshops. We write from prompts, and offer only appreciation to each other. Full cost is $240 for the 8 week session, but it's always Pay As Led And Able here at Write With Su.

Monthly Poetry Readalongs are back!
In 2023, we enjoyed an hour or so of poetry on topics like "Erotic LGBTQC Poetry," "A Celebration of Butches," and "LGBTQ Poetry Before Stonewall." After a few months off, Poetry Readalongs return on February 25 with a reader's choice topic: Vermin. We'll read and discuss poetry featuring fleas, mice, rats, alley cats, spiders and bugs, from the sixteenth through twenty-first centuries. Guaranteed non-graphic and minimally creepy. Via zoom at this link, but don't worry. A reminder with the link will go out a few days before the Readalong.
Readalongs are free to participate in, and you get a nice pdf of the poetry afterward.
Other things to look forward to:
Fall 2024: Why Is This Book Good? seminar
We'll read several complete books in the same genre, and look at excerpts from others, to develop an appreciation of what elevates some books, and what sadly diminishes others.
Sooner than autumn but not on the calendar yet
