Su Penn Writing Workshop, Patreon

Write with Su 8-week cycle
begins July 12

How does this work?

During each session, we will have two writing periods of about 25 minutes, with time afterward for people to share what they’ve written if they’d like. Su will provide prompts, but they’re merely suggestions, not requirements. We follow a model pioneered by writing teacher Pat Scheider, in which we offer only positive feedback, letting each other know what turns of phrases, images, or other elements of the writing we appreciate.

What does it cost?

I request payment under a Pay As Led and Able model. The "regular price" of my workshop is $300 for eight weeks. If you can afford that, I can really use the money. That said, I encourage you to sign up no matter your ability to pay. Most people pay between $50 and $300 for an 8-week cycle; occasionally I have a participant who can’t pay at all, and that’s OK.

You don't need to explain or justify yourself. Just let me know what you've chosen to do.

I accept Venmo, CashApp, Paypal, and checks by mail. Your confirmation em/ail will include payment details.

People are welcome to come to a meeting to try it out, and please encourage any friends you think might be interested to give it a try.

Su has a Patreon!

This summer, I’m spending three months as the Minnie Jane Scholar in Residence at Pendle Hill, a Quaker study center in Wallingford, Pennsylvania. I’m doing a big scholarly/creative writing project on Walt Whitman, Quakerism, and Queerness while I’m here.

I’ve started a Patreon about the work I’m doing. The most recent post is about reckoning with Whitman’s occasional use of the n-word in his notebooks. You can read it here.

Although there are options to pay for a monthly subscription, everything at my Patreon is free.

Sending all good wishes,

Su
