Newsletter #06: Behind the game: Meet the Team Pt.2

Welcome back to Part 2 of our “Meet the Team” series—where we’re introducing four more amazing Studio Steadfast members who are helping bring both our game and a fresh light to the gaming world.

First up: Elizabeth!

Elizabeth will be contributing across multiple areas of game development, with a particular focus on programming. With a strong background and real experience working on other games, we’re incredibly grateful to have her on the team.

“Hi, I’m Elizabeth Smith! I’m a game developer and project manager by trade, with my bachelor’s in game design and master’s in mobile development from Full Sail. I started developing under my own studio in 2021 with the goal of creating games that would stay within the bounds of the Bible. When I saw Daniel was opening a game studio that aligned with the values of my own, I knew it had to be a sign from God. From backend analytics to front-end gameplay, I’m ready to do my part to help build the Kingdom!”

Fun fact about Elizabeth: She is Daniel’s second cousin, and they’ve bonded over video games for a long time. They’re excited to be working on such a neat project together.

Next up: Nathan!

Brother-in-law to our founder, Daniel, and owner/operator of his own business The Drone Ranger, Nathan brings a great entrepreneurial edge to the team.

“Hey y’all, my name is Nathan Sheets. Like most of the team, I’ve played video games off and on throughout most of my life and always wondered what it would be like to create one. After realizing I have a passion for entrepreneurship—starting and running my own business—I wanted to be a part of something more! I help out with administrative tasks and business development like launch planning, networking, community management, and more. Definitely give me a shout if you want to talk anything business or video games!”

Next up: Jonah

Jonah is a long time friend of many members of the team. He’s really excited about Studio Steadfast, and will be heading up the Sound FX for the game in development. When asked what he loves about being a part of this project, he said:

“It’s super fun to be working with all my friends on a great project!”

Finally: Nolen!

Nolen’s role on the team consists of a variety of things - primarily all focused around art development.

“Hey there! There are a few reasons why I am excited to be working with Studio Steadfast. First off is the guy who is starting it. I have known Daniel for a little over a decade, since before freshman year of high school. We became good friends early on in my move to Kentucky and have been close ever since. Though we did spend a few years apart after I graduated high school. I decided to go to college in MI for a bachelors in Digital Art and Design with an entertainment focus. When I came back, I couldn’t find much in my field so I took a job as a groundskeeper. A year or so after that, Daniel approached me with an idea to make video games. He needed an artist and I was just that. I told him I would quit my job the next day! I didn’t haha, but I was 100% in! I wanted the opportunity to develop my skills that I had neglected for a while. Though I didn’t go to school specifically for game development, I had done some 3D modeling, and knew I could definitely help! I was also excited to learn new stuff, and help a friend who was really excited and passionate about this idea. Beyond those reasons, Daniel’s desire to create mature games, tackling difficult ideas and concepts about life and its complexities, without placing needless mature themes in the games, like excessive gore, language, and sexual content, is something, I believe, God has placed on his heart and I would be blessed to be a part of it in any fashion. Wherever this thing goes and however God uses it, I pray that we would not lose sight of God and that we would be a light of His steadfast love and kindness for all the people of His world."

That’s all for this week! We’ll introduce a few more team members next time, and after that—some exciting updates on game development you won’t want to miss. Stay tuned!
