Stoneshore: September 2023 update
I’m delighted to announce that my new action horror tabletop RPG, SUBSURFACE, has been released on itch.io. It will be included in this year’s Halloween Spooktacular bundle, launching on the 1st October.
SUBSURFACE was built using the LUMEN system by Spencer Campbell of Gila RPGs. It was really refreshing to build a game using a third-party system, and I enjoyed adding in a few of my own tweaks to adjust it for the action horror experience I wanted to create.
I’ve had a fantastic time playtesting this game, and I’m really excited to share it with you all! I’ve also included a one-floor introductory adventure along with the rules, called Sub Level -27.
SUBSURFACE also features the wonderful art of Roque Romero. You can find their art packs through itch.io.
Other news
I’m hoping to get a small update to Bar the Windows, Bolt the Doors out sometime in October to clarify a couple of rules and add in PDF bookmarks. Time allowing, I might throw in a bit of extra content as well.
Spotlight
I’m eagerly anticipating the completion of a few kickstarters I back a year or two ago.
Cloud Empress by Watt looks absolutely delightful, and I’m pleased I got the chance to back this for a physical copy. You can download the free rulebook for this psychedelic science-fantasy game and setting now.
I’m on the edge of my seat for the Mothership full release. There’s not a whole lot of pure sci-fi systems I’ve clicked with, either because they were too complex, or too tied to an existing IP, or too high-fantasy inflected, but Mothership looks like just the right balance for me, and I’m excited to try it out.
Thanks for reading, and hope you’re all looking forward to the Halloween season. I’ll be off to my first haunt experience tonight, so if you don’t hear from me again it’s because I’ve been terrified to death.
