Stoneshore: November 2023 update
I’ve just released update 0.8 for Wandering Swords, my tactical dark fantasy tabletop RPG.
Wandering Swords is set in a cursed realm called the Hinterlands. Players assume the role of lost wanderers, fighting to survive against malformed beasts and corrupted warriors. The unique combat system is inspired by Dark Souls (I’m sure you’ve heard that a few times before) in that you have to carefully react to enemy stances.
Update 0.8e adds a map, bookmarks, balance adjustments, and a new greater foe. Following this update I’ll be using the map to add in premade adventures to the setting. You can pick up Wandering Swords here and read the devlog here.
Bar the Windows, Bolt the Doors livestream
Kat the Lore Mistress streamed Bar the Windows, Bolt the Doors on Halloween with a lovely cast featuring Jienbirb, Kat Alysha, and Critical Spark! It was great to see Kat play Bar the Windows again, and I always enjoy the way she takes the narrative of the game to the next level. You can watch the full video here.
Spotlight
In this section, I like to share games, new releases, and news from the indie tabletop ecosystem which I’ve come across lately. If you have anything you’d like to share with me, please get in touch!
Afterglow is the new release from Fistful of Crits, a journalling game based on Firelights. As always Frey and Logan knock it out of the park with the style and vibe of their projects, and Afterglow looks wonderfully vibrant and dreamlike. You can check out the game here.
I grabbed a copy of Magnagothica: Maleghast by Tom Bloom, the creator behind Lancer, ICON, and Kill Six Billion Demons. So far I haven’t clicked with his tabletop creations. Despite oozing style I haven’t been able to parse their mechanics particularly well, but Maleghast is a streamlined wargame with an impressive visual style which I’m itching to try out.
Thanks as always for reading, and see you in the next update.
