Christopher Dean
Christopher Dean is a North Carolina political consultant with more than 15 years of experience working with more than 100 local, state, and national campaigns and organizations.
Born in Georgia, Christopher was raised in a large military family who served in both the U.S. Navy and the Marine Corps. He has lived throughout the country but has called North Carolina home for more than 25 years. In 2007, Christopher spent a year in Germany as a Rotary International exchange student, providing him with a global perspective and solidifying his passion for campaigns and policy. At Mars Hill University, he majored in political science while beginning his pursuit of a career in politics and public affairs as a Republican. Christopher quickly rose through the leadership of the North Carolina Federation of Young Republicans and at age 20, he was elected to serve on the executive board of the Young Republicans National Federation.
In 2010, Christopher managed his first campaign for the first election of Kathy Harrington, former Republican Senate Majority Leader. In 2011, he accepted a job at The Stewart Group, Inc., one of North Carolina’s most influential political consulting and public affairs firms. Christopher was appointed the firm’s Vice President less than three years later at the age of 25. In this new role, he worked closely with the firm's most notable clients, including U.S. Congressman Patrick McHenry, U.S. Congressman Richard Hudson, and N.C. Senate President Pro Tempore Phil Berger.
Always considered a moderate, Christopher was often called a RINO. But after the massacre at Sandy Hook Elementary School in 2012, he began to realize he was in the wrong party. Christopher resigned from The Stewart Group in early 2015. A few years later, he officially joined the Democratic Party and began working to elect Democrats and progressives to local, state, and federal office.
Christopher has one daughter, Payton Elizabeth, and currently resides in Belmont, North Carolina, with his husband, Erik.
