January 8 - Sample Ballots Released
The Sample Ballots for the March 5th 2024 NC Primary Election are available at the Stanly County Board of Elections website (www.votestanlycountync.gov) or by searching your voter record at https://vt.ncsbe.gov/RegLkup/ or by visiting the Stanly County Board of Elections office at 1000 North First Street, Suite 16 in Albemarle.

January 13 - Annual MLK Prayer Breakfast
The 21st Annual Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Unity Prayer Breakfast will be held on Saturday, January 13th at 9 a.m. in the multipurpose room of the E.E. Waddell Community Center with the theme of "Normalcy ...Never again."
The keynote speaker will be Dr. Reginald Boyd Jr., who serves as the senior pastor at Union Chapel A.M.E. Zion Church in Albermarle.
Tickets are available for $25 each by contacting any member of the local NAACP or can be purchased at the EEWC in advance.

January 18 - Democratic Women Will Meet
The Democratic Women of Stanly County will meet on Thursday, January 18th at Jay's Downtowner Restaurant (1230 East Main Street, Albemarle) with dinner at 5:30 pm and the meeting at 6:00 p.m. Everyone is welcomed and please bring a friend!
Peter Asciutto, Stanly County Commissioner, will be the guest speaker and he will educate us on the workings of our local government. Peter is an educator, serves on the Stanly County Board of Commissioners (2020-2024, 2012-2016), served as President of the Albemarle Rotary Club (2012-2013), and the former business owner of the Vac & Dash where he received the 2008 Stanly County Chamber of Commerce Small Business of the Year, 2019 North Carolina Main Street Champion, and 2020 Stanly County Chamber of Commerce Citizen of the Year.
The Stanly County Democratic Party and the Democratic Women of Stanly County will have their fundraising t-shirts available for purchase at the meeting. They are original designs perfect for the 2024 election season!

February 4 - "Walk Around Stanly County" Will Gather
Please join Lydia Light at the head of the Falcon Trail in Misenheimer, NC at the next "Walk Around Stanly County" on Sunday, February 4th at 3:00 p.m.
We will spend time learning about the history of Misenheimer, Richfield, the Falcon Trail (Phase 1/Phase 2 - part of the Carolina Thread Trail). As we walk, we invite you to engage in stimulating conversation while building community and providing space for sharing diverse viewpoints on some of societies' most pressing issues.
All are welcome and we encourage you to invite friends from all areas of the political spectrum who are interested in respectful discourse.
This outreach program is supported by the Democratic Women of Stanly County.
February 17 - 2024 Precinct Organizational Meetings

March 5 - 2024 NC Primary Election
In 2024, North Carolina will hold its primary election on Tuesday, March 5th and the general election on Tuesday, November 5th.
Offices up for election in 2024 include: U.S. President, U.S. House of Representatives, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Secretary of State, State Auditor, State Treasurer, Superintendent of Public Instruction, Attorney General, Agriculture Commissioner, Labor Commissioner, Insurance Commissioner, State Senator, State Representative, N.C. Supreme Court Justice, N.C. Court of Appeals Judge, Superior Court Judge, District Court Judge, District Attorney, County Commissioner, Clerk of Superior Court, and Register of Deeds.
In 2024, many counties have elections for boards of commisssioners and boards of education. A number of municipalities also have elections for mayor and seats on the municipal governing board.
Here are the voter dates and deadlines for the 2024 primary election in North Carolina:
01/19/2024: County Boards of Elections begin mailing absentee ballots to eligible voters who submitted an absentee ballot request form.
02/09/2024: Voter registration deadline.
02/15/2024: In-person early voting begins.
02/27/2024: Absentee ballot request deadline.
03/02/2024: In-person early voting ends.
03/05/2024: Primary Election Day.
03/05/2024: Absentee ballot return deadline.
** Please note that voter registration and absentee voting deadlines are different for military and overseas citizen voters.
