Voter Photo ID
Voters may obtain free photo ID cards from the Stanly County Board of Elections office which is located at 1000 North 1st Street Suite 16 in Albemarle. When a voter checks into a polling place and shows a photo ID, the election worker will check to see if the picture on the ID reasonably resembles the voter. Visit the NC State Board of Election at https://www.ncsbe.gov/voterid for more voter photo ID information.
Picnic in the Park
The Democratic Women of Stanly County hosted a "Picnic in the Park" on June 15th at New London Memorial Park. County Democrats joined together for a BBQ chicken meal. Fran Walker, President of the DWSC, welcomed everyone. Daniel Quick, SCDP Chair, presented Certificates of Appreciation to the 2021-2023 party officers Kevin Taylor, Georgette Edgerton, and David Cartrette. Hazel Poolos, Corresponding Secretary of the DWSC, received a certificate of appreciation for her long-time service to the Democratic Party.
4th Annual Juneteenth Celebration
The Stanly County Democratic Party registered voters at the Juneteenth Celebration on June 17-18th at West Badin Community Park. Jo Jo McCoy, 2nd Vice Chair, greeted guests and enjoyed a day under the tent as pictured below.
Stanly County Board of Elections Sworn In
The Stanly County Board of Elections were sworn-in on July 18th. Members for the 2023-2025 term are pictured below (left to right): Sherrill Smith, Frank Sparger, JoAnne Hesley, Bill Rigsbee, and Ron Burris, Chairman. The Election Board selected JoAnne Hesley as Secretary.
The Board approved the Director's duties and a petition from the Constitution party. The next meeting will be held on August 22nd where the board will appoint precinct officials for the 2024 elections.
Democratic Women of Stanly County Meeting
The Democratic Women of Stanly County will meet Thursday, September 21st at Jay's Downtowner Restaurant in Albemarle with dinner at 5:30 pm and the meeting at 6:00 pm. Please bring a friend!
Democratic Women of NC Convention
The 63rd Annual Convention of the Democratic Women of North Carolina will be held in Charlotte on September 22nd-23rd. Fran Walker, President of the DWSC, encourages you to grab your girlfriend and attend this local event. Early bird registration is open now at https://www.democraticwomenofnc.com/convention. Please check out their online store for reasonably priced shirts and mugs to show your party pride.
