WHAT YOU’RE SAYING

“Ordered some aluminum flat bar. Website clearly read that lead times could be 5-7 days. I was notified that my order was ready to pick up within 7 hours of placing the order. Material was straight, clean, deburred and packaged nicely. Gentleman at the counter was friendly, pleasant and helpful. Won't hesitate to use them for further material needs. Thanks!”

DID YOU KNOW…?

…that iron powder is more effective than activated carbon at filtering out PFAS?

Even when it gets rusty!

Researchers at the Stevens Institute of Technology set out to find the most efficient way to filter PFOS (a subset of PFAS, aka ‘forever chemicals’) out of water.

Typically, activated carbon is considered to be the most effective form of filter, but it turns out that iron powder is 26 times more effective, and it doesn’t lose much efficiency even after it rusts.

Given that iron powder is much cheaper than activated carbon, this discovery could have big implications for future filtration technology.
