CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT

This month we’re customer Jon Thomson’s custom winter enclosure for his golf cart.

He says: “I made a custom winter enclosure for our golf cart (Hudson’s Hot Rod).”

“I used a combination of aluminum flat stock, 1.5” round tubing, and 1” square tubing from Speedy Metals, as well as some polycarbonate panels and imitation carbon fiber wrap.

“I used my tubing bender to bend all of the tubing for the frame, created gussets from the flat stock, and then welded it all together and riveted the panels to the frame. Then wrapped it with the carbon fiber wrap and added the custom graphics.

“It features 3 hinged doors and 2 windows that open and lock closed. It also has weatherstripping, drip rails, and is insulated to that I can heat the interior when I’m snow-plowing our driveway in the winter.”

DID YOU KNOW...?

...that the hidden properties of copper might be the key to a cleaner agricultural industry?

Ammonia is a key ingredient for making fertilizer, and its production is currently extremely energy-intensive, requiring extremely high temperatures and pressures to combine nitrogen and hydrogen.

However, researchers in Japan have discovered the mechanism through which a copper oxide catalyst can help produce large quantities of ammonia at room temperature and regular atmospheric pressure. They found that midway through the process, metallic copper forms, which “helps add hydrogen to nitrite ions, which leads to ammonia formation.”

This insight could lead to newer, more efficient, and less expensive ammonia production techniques.
