CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT

This month we’re featuring customer Bill Suski, who sent us these pictures of the adapter he made for his 1951 Willys Station Wagon:

“I’m replacing the engine in my 1951 Willys Station Wagon… I pulled out a tired old 1957 283 and I’m replacing it with a new BP Engines 350/340HP. This was the ideal time to replace the “jury-rigged” setup I had to adapt the Power Steering Pump to the engine bracket that I put on several years ago when I converted to Rack & Pinion Power Steering. I purchased a 1”x3”x3” 2024 Aluminum Block from Speedy Metals. I sketched up what the adapter needed to look like then I carved it out of the aluminum.”

WHAT YOU’RE SAYING

“I'm just a hobby builder but if it were not for you I couldn't do the projects I do. I live in northern Wisconsin, and can't get materials easy up here but you have always made it easy for family and friends to stop and bring my orders up to me. Plus the people that you have working for you are awesome friendly and bend over backward to help every time.” -Jay

DID YOU KNOW…?

…that scientists have developed a new way to model corrosion in order to predict and prevent it?

Diagram from the article. The first section is called "Local energy landscape". A unidirectional arrow labeled "energies and barriers" points to a second diagram labeled "Oxide evolution". A bidirectional arrow connects "Oxide evolution" with "Oxide characterization" and is labeled "Predicted/measured composition and thickness"

Globally, corrosion costs trillions of dollars a year, and while we have a good understanding of how it affects traditional materials, it can be difficult to predict how corrosion will affect newly developed ones.

Now, researchers have developed a technique to model corrosion, even in new types of materials.
