CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT This month we're featuring Megan Jio, who made this kinetic sculpture out of walnut and brass: Kinetic sculpture made out of brass and walnut wood

To build it she says that she "shaped toppers, affixed the brass to the wood base, and then assembled it." You can check out a video of the sculpture in action here:

WHAT YOU'RE SAYING "As a fact, I live around a 5 minute walk from a large metals supplier, and it is still better for me to buy metals (including delivery charges) from Speedy Metals in Wisconsin than from a local supplier - due to local state and city sales taxes and metal supplier cutting charges - plus a very limited variety of brass and bronze profiles."

DID YOU KNOW...? ...that "smart rust" can be used to clean water?

Usually rust is something we want to avoid, and purposely pouring rust flakes into water sounds like something that would make it dirtier, but researchers have now developed iron oxide nanoparticles called "smart rust". Smart rust particles can be used to actually make water cleaner. They work by attracting "many substances, including oil, nano- and microplastics, as well as the herbicide glyphosate, depending on the particles' coating. And because the nanoparticles are magnetic, they can easily be removed from water with a magnet along with the pollutants."
