You can now request blasting for your order. See the FAQ below for details.
FAQ
- What are the size limits? The size limits are 12” x 18” with no limit on the length so it can be used for bars tubes, angles etc. Since it is an open chain design there is also a 3” x 3” minimum size. Eventually we will be building baskets to carry smaller parts.
- How much will it cost?We will be charging a $30.00 minimum and $.22/ lb.
- How long will it take?Turn around should only be a day or two.
- What if my parts are too big?If parts are too big for our machine we will still have to send them out for blasting.
- How do I request blasting for my order? When placing a web order, make a note in the "Order Notes" box and a sales associate will contact you to work out the details.

CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT
CUSTOMER SPOTLIGHT This month we're featuring customer Tim Alho, who built this Flathead Piston Table for his den.
He says:
** I was rebuilding a Flathead Ford V8 engine and accumulated a lot of spare parts. When the rebuild was completed, I had several pistons and connecting rods left over so I thought I would use them to make a table art project for my den.
I selected three connecting rods and cut them in half. Then with some 3/4” square steel from Speedy Metals, I welded in 20” into the length of the connecting rod that was milled out to match the H-shape of the rod. I built a bending fixture out of some flat plate and some round stock, then bent the newly elongated rods to form the legs.
The pistons were reattached to the rods, then the legs were assembled together with a center support that resembled another piston. The final step was to top it off with a circle of smoked, tempered plate glass to finish the table. It turned out great!!**

TESTIMONIALS
What You're Saying: "I ordered a single cast iron rod online then received a call the next day stating it was ready for pickup. The two guys who assisted me were polite and nice. Handed me the part, asked for a signature, and that was that."

DID YOU KNOW?
Did You Know...? ...that scientists have harnessed the power of corrosion to create new, lightweight alloys?
Alloying is the process of mixing metals with other elements to create a new material with desired properties. Dealloying is its opposite - "a corrosive process that degrades materials over time by selectively removing elements, weakening their structure". Now, researchers at the Max Planck Institute for Sustainable Materials have figured out how to use both processes at once, to strategically remove oxygen atoms from a material's matrix and replace them with nitrogen to create new, lightweight nano-structured porous martensitic alloys with "precise microstructure control from the millimeter down to the atomic scale." These new alloys have numerous engineering applications, which could be important in the future.
