LETS: It Might Be The Only Way!
Hi
We are under attack every day from "the system". Slowly but surely they encroach on our freedoms and find ways to limit what we are "allowed" to do, where we can go and soon to come what we are "allowed" to buy. The Central Bank Digital Currency (CBDC) draws ever closer and will enable the Government and Banks to fully control your spending based on some arbitrary "carbon footprint" that lacks any solid evidence base.
The good news is that there is an alternative and one that is being used in more and more places across the country and around the World.
Local Exchange Trading System or LETS is a way for us to take our first step away from the burgeoning control agenda. The presentation by Roger on Monday 23rd October at the Lawful Action Workshop was just a glimpse into the possibilities that our own LETS can offer. Rather than thinking of the LETS concept as a complete alternative, we need to think of this as a transition. Not an "alternative" currency but a Complimentary currency thats outside of the control of the Government and Banks.
We'll still have access and use of FIAT Currency (GBP) and still be able to pay for things in "ordinary" shops and services. However, think about the possibilities of buying services like small plumbing jobs, electrical work or servicing your car with a mix of GBP and our own complimentary currency. Pay for the materials in FIAT (GPB) and the time taken in our own "Daventry Pound" or "DAP" when £1 = 1 DAP.
This complimentary approach could really make your finance balance much better than they currently do. When you pay with the DAP (or whatever it's called) you make a commitment to offer some of your time back to the community by supplying your own inherent skills of services.
For me, this would work by offering website building, technical IT help, or guidance on how to deal with not paying council tax etc.
I can then use the DAPs I am paid on other services within the Daventry LETS thus limiting my need to spend FIAT currency. I could even buy food if it's on offer!
I'd love to know what your thoughts are on the LETS idea and what YOU think you would offer to the community. We all have something to offer!
Next week at LAW
We'll be hosting Dolores Cahill to look at the benefits of creating a Local Community Co-Op and how "Trial by Jury" would operate in a real justice system that worked for us, rather than what we have now...
Until next time
