Bits and Pieces: Expo Updates and Rails GDPR
Hello there,
You're receiving this e-mail because one day you decided it was a good idea to subscribe to Code in Bits and Pieces (my personal blog at https://derk-jan.com/). I haven't sent any emails recently, and that's because I didn't really write recently.
Feel free to comment, reply to this e-mail, unsubscribe, ask questions, or suggest topics. In this e-mail you find a short snippet on the last four articles I published with the newest at the bottom. I'm still working out the format for these e-mails but 🤷🏽♀️ (shrug) here we go.

I wrote a ☕ 4 minute read on October 6th about Using a custom confirmation dialog, when using Rails unobtrusive JavaScript driver. You can read it here. I got positive private feedback, and I've seen people use it in the wild, which I'm very happy about.
Rails · Right to data portability
On May 19th I started on an article about GDPR and Rails, and how you can provide data portability to your users. I've just published it, and it's a ☕ 6 minute read. The first part of the article is also interesting if you don't work with Rails or Ruby at all.
Expo Updates · Custom update notification
And finally, here is a ☕ 6 minute read and tutorial how you can use expo-updates
and show a custom notification dialog to your users.
That's all for today. I hope you like them, and until next time ❤ Because you made it all the way to the end, here is a Rotterdam picture, where I live:
