The strongest signal this week came from several directions at once. AI evaluation environments reached systems they were never supposed to touch. Open weights arrived with real licensing obligations. Phone restrictions kept spreading. Agent platforms added more recovery and approval machinery. Different stories, same conclusion: the workflow is the trust boundary.
Written instructions are not containment. The operating system around the model is the safety system. |

Signal 03 · Cellphones and device strategy A phone restriction is a beginning.Illinois joined the growing bell-to-bell policy movement. Restrictions may improve attention conditions, but storage, exceptions, family communication, enforcement, and the purpose of school-issued devices will decide whether schools improve learning or simply create a new compliance ritual. Restart recovery, approval history, delegated identity, trace export, and rollback belong in the product demonstration before any agent receives write access. Signal 06 · A personal field note Frank got better because Sol improved the factory.Frank is what I call my Hermes AI operating system. OpenAI says Sol helped improve the infrastructure serving its model family, then cut Luna's API price by 80%. I moved Librarian, Sentinel, and Synthesis to Luna Max, my shorthand for GPT-5.6 Luna at maximum reasoning. The loop remained bounded.
