Give Local York isn't the harvest. It's the seeds.
Happy Give Local Week!
Most nonprofits treat Give Local York like the end of the growing season. Raise the funds, exhale, move on to business as usual.
But here's what I need you to understand: every person you reach during Give Local York is a seed you can tend for the next 12 months.
The funds are absolutely needed, yes.
But, the superfans you grow this week matter even more.
This week you have an opportunity to tell the story of your WHY and bring someone new into your mission, someone who may change everything on a committee or on your board.
Every donation, every interaction, every touch point leads to someone who believes in your mission and now gets why your work matters.
In the next 48 hours, here's what you can still do:
Send a personal message (not a mass email) to five people who have never given but know your name. Tell them one thing happening at your organization right now that they don't know. Then invite them to follow along.
Post one piece of behind-the-scenes storytelling Show your work. Let people feel what it's like to be on the inside of your mission.
Ask a board member or volunteer to share their personal reason for being involved — and then to tag or share with folks they know could be superfans.
This week isn’t about perfection and outcomes.
It’s about connecting your mission to the folks who will be with you to harvest the impact.
FYI — Each year, for Give Local York, I personally offer consulting to five nonprofits on leadership and fundraising strategy and narrative content marketing to foster greater visibility and impact for your organization. We start Jan. 1. Interested in getting on my calendar for this? Hit reply and let’s connect this summer.
Now … go get ‘em. :)
In gratitude,
