Hello from a cooler than expected September morning in central Japan.

A few people I follow have taken Japanese citizenship this year, or started the process. I've thought about doing it more than once and always stopped short. This time I wrote down why.

I have permanent residency in Japan and that suits me. Why my wife and I decided against applying for Japanese citizenship.

I had a good time in the UK this summer, although for a few days the heat was on par with Japan. Not good. I spent the first two weeks with family and the next two with four Japanese teenage students, most of it on a Harry Potter tour I put together for them. Hopefully we can do it again next year.

Back in Japan now and finally over the jet lag. It took eight days this time and seems to be getting harder every year.
