Behind the Book: Signature Cocktails
Happy 6 month anniversary to my third born! Here's some inside intel on the writing process, maintaining the deadline, and how I kept it real.
Thanks to everyone who has subscribed to Schustack so far! I’m positively verklempt at the warm reception I’ve received since I launched last week.
I will be offering this article and a couple of subsequent ones free to all readers. I will be mixing things up between free and paid subscriber-only posts starting next week. Please consider switching to a paid platform so you don’t, to paraphrase the late Michael Hutchence of INXS, miss the people, or miss the fun.
Today marks six months since the official release of Signature Cocktails! For any of my readers here who are unfamiliar, this is my third book, which was released internationally by Phaidon Press last October. It contains the recipes and backstories of 200 cocktails from around the world, dating as far back as the 1400s all the way to early 2023 (its older siblings are 2017’s New York Cocktails and 2022’s Drink Like a Local New York). All of the essays were written by me, with a foreword by Agostino Perrone, whose own book with his team at the Connaught, London is out soon from the same publisher. It was an extraordinary undertaking, to say the least. It feels good to be on this side of it, and I’m thrilled at the positive reception it’s gotten so far. Many thanks to all!
