================
THIS WEEK. I will be taking the upcoming week off from writing this newsletter. But don’t stop reading the Word! In our reading this week, we’ll come upon another great prophecy of Christ in Isaiah (ch 61) and descriptions of the new creation. We’ll finish Isaiah on July 4! In Matthew you will read about the miracles of Christ and of his teachings on discipleship (ch 10). And in chapter 11, you’ll read these amazing words: “Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you, and learn from me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy, and my burden is light.” (Matthew 11:28-30)
QUOTE. From the letters of John Newton:
“O the comfort! we are not under the law, but under grace. The Gospel is a dispensation for sinners, and we have an Advocate with the Father. There is the unshaken ground of hope: a reconciled Father, a prevailing Advocate, a powerful Shepherd, a compassionate Friend, a Savior who is able and willing to save to the uttermost. He knows our frame; He remembers that we are but dust; and has opened for us a new and blood-sprinkled way of access to the Throne of Grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in every time of need.” (John Newton, Letters)
