Tickets now live for Scottish Festival of Real Bread

Pre-booking is now available for Scottish Festival of Real Bread events

This is a special newsletter to let you know that tickets are now available to pre-book for some events at the Scottish Festival of Real Bread on Saturday 24th February.

Tickets will be available on the day, but we expect the following events to sell out (or book up - prices range from free to £10 + booking fee). To avoid disappointment, we recommend pre-booking for:

  • Arise!, The Breadagogues’ work-in-progress show of Songs and Stories for the Bread Revolution

  • The first screening in Scotland of 'Six Inches of Soil' feature documentary film – the inspiring story of British farmers standing up against the industrial food system to heal the soil, benefit our health and provide for local communities – followed by a discussion on how healthy grains from healthy soils are the foundation of Real Bread. Watch the trailer here.

  • Children’s sourdough flatbread making workshops

  • The Big Thrash: especially for children. From sheaf to sourdough by hand: thresh (in a bag), winnow, grind (free event)

  • Tours of Scotland The Bread’s unique low-energy mill (free event)

  • Diversity Exposed: cyanotype workshops with Kit Martin

Book here for all of the above events.

There will also be lots of activities and events open to all with no booking required, though spaces may be limited in the demos:

  • The awards ceremony of the Scottish Bread Championship, Scotland’s only exclusively Real Bread competition

  • Get started with Scotland The Bread flour in a Real Bread Machine! Simple, additive-free, energy-efficient, convenient and…tasty!

  • Good Bread Nation: could The People’s Bread set a standard for convivial community provision in the exciting new Public Diners Infrastructure for a Good Food Nation? With Pete Ritchie (Director of Nourish Scotland), community bakers, public health nutrition and food security specialists

  • Meet the Baker: community and micro-bakers present the stories (and sell the loaves) that brought them to the Scottish Bread Championship – be inspired!

  • Straw weaving workshop with Elaine Lindsay from Something Corny

  • Heritage Grains with Bosse Dahlgren

  • Rye bread demonstration (for beginners and enthusiasts alike)

  • Paratha demo with Scotland The Bread wholemeal flour

  • Real Bread focused market stalls
