We've been quiet... because we are planning for a full fall of 2025 and beyond!
Hello from the Strategy Lab for Intersex Movements summer planning retreat! (aka the kitchen, where we are making muesli and yams, respectively)
Cultural work—stories, art, and relationships—is what makes movements human. We think intersex organizing needs more room for that. Our fall slate includes developing an advisory board, fundraising, and putting on a second virtual event.
A big part of our work at this stage is achieving financial sustainability. We've been so fortunate as to receive startup grants from Transgender Law Center and the Emergent Fund. Right now we're becoming our own development team, pursuing other grants and avenues to fund intersex cultural work. Please reply to this email if this is something you know about! We'd love to talk.
We loved the conversation everyone brought to our spring virtual event, Intersex Futures. Want to do it again? Keep your eyes out for SLIM's next conversation, which will be about PCOS. We'll be hosting in October.
If you'd like to help us cover costs like Spanish interpretation and speaker payments, we won't say no! Events do require money to produce, and, we're dedicated to free entry for all who want to come. Chip in here.
Theory and planning make stronger work happen. That's why we're republishing Saifa and Dr. Mel Michelle Lewis's 2020 resource, The Intersex Justice Framework.
New this summer is SLIM's Theory of Change. This explains what we do here at SLIM, and why we focus on cultural work. These two resources work together to describe what we do and how we do it.
And you can always access our other tools:
The right wing funds map, which collects intersex language from anti-trans bills
The intersex organizing index, which lists public groups across the world by country and founding date
Hint: it's the anniversary of something big. And we think it will be one to remember...
In solidarity,
Hans & Saifa
