Strategy Lab for Intersex Movements

Welcome to the SLIM email club!

Hello to everyone who signed up for Strategy Lab for Intersex Movements update emails! Thank you for being here with us.

We're interested in moving slow, respecting your attention, and getting away from big tech so we can organize together. So here's some things to know about how our emails will work:

  1. We'll communicate when we have something to say. Emails may come about once a month, or a few times a year. We don't use other social media platforms for the above reasons. If we're hosting an event, we'll email you, because you're invited.
  2. We'll respect your privacy. We don't collect any data about subscribers besides the email address we need to send things to. We never share your information. Hop on or off the email bus as needed!
  3. This is a magic, interactive email. Anyone who's here can connect with each other. You can leave a comment that other subscribers can read by going to the bottom of the email where it says "Leave a comment on the web." We, and others, want to know what's coming up for you! Please be respectful, on topic, etc.

Intersex Futures panel recording

📌 Watch the panel in English or Spanish HERE!

On May 13th SLIM kicked off with a virtual panel, Intersex Futures Beyond Law and Medicine. About 90 of you joined our 5 brilliant panelists and 2 brilliant Spanish interpreters. People from 21 countries registered to join us!

While we expected to discuss anti-trans legislation, legal and medical work for intersex justice, our limitations, and the state of the world, what happened became something more. Panelists had a lot to say about intersex rage. Everyone had a lot to say about wanting more conversation space. Check out the video to see where it went.

Thank you all again for a beautiful night.

When we live loudly we keep others from dying quietly. —Koomah, panelist, co-founder of The Houston Intersex Society

Other new research tools for intersex organizers

SLIM launches with two tools that we hope will help others in their work:

  1. The Intersex Index: We've counted every intersex group with public facing social media. This may encourage collaborations and show field growth over time to funders.
  2. The Right Wing Funds Map: We're interested in how anti-gender policy originating from the U.S. and Britain does now consider intersex movements. This map shows relationships between organizations and quotes their language on intersex.

We welcome any thoughts. And of course, hit us up if you'd like to collaborate!
