Roguelike Celebration 2024 Speakers Announcement
As you enter the great hall, you are awe struck by the lifelike statues of brave adventurers like yourself - some you may recognize, some not. However, as you approach, they spring into motion and greet you warmly. They speak!
π Our speaker lineup has been announced! π
We've got a wonderful list of speakers for our 2024 event. Here are some highlights:
β‘ Adrian Zeyfang with "Probably Impossible: NecroDancer's Network Code," a technical overview of the networking challenges and novel rollback principles required to bring multiplayer to Crypt of the NecroDancer.
πΎ Dan Norder with "Chase: The BASIC Language Proto-Roguelike," a celebration of the 60th anniversary of BASIC that examines the many variations of Chase, a widely shared turn-based game from the early years of computing.
π¨ Marlowe Dobbe with "A Swarm of Monsters is Hard to Build: Generating Visual Concepts for Enemies in Roguelikes,β a deep dive into the techniques sheβs used to generate varied visual concepts in roguelikes such as Dicey Dungeons and Floppy Knights.
You can see the list of talks here, and check out more of our speakers here!
π Preview Event Coming Soon! π
In the meantime, we hope to see you at the free preview event on Sunday, September 8th at 1pm! Traditionally we've had our preview event in the late afternoon, but we've moved it forward this year, as some of our speakers are from Europe. Find the schedule here and register at the event page here. We hope to see you there!
π° Weβve updated our sponsorship page. π°
Roguelike Celebration is a nonprofit organization, funded fully by ticket sales and sponsorships. Those funds go towards paying for live captioning, compensating all our speakers for their hard work, and paying our yearly shirt artist a fair commission. If you work for an organization that might be interested in Roguelike Celebration, weβve updated our sponsorship page here, with a link to our updated prospectus.
As always, if you have comments, questions, or are interested in volunteering, send us an email at contact@roguelike.club.
Safe adventuring,
The Roguelike Celebration Organizing Team
