Roguelike Celebration 2023 - A New Event in March!
💻 Roguelike Celebration 2023! 💻
Greetings procedurally generated adventurers! Normally you don’t hear from us until later in the year, but we wanted to provide an early update on the plans for Roguelike Celebration 2023, including a new event in March that we’re judging interest for.
We spent some time talking through the logistics of an in-person Roguelike Celebration 2023, and unfortunately don’t feel we can pull off a physical event to a level of safety and scale that we feel is required at this point, so we’re going to be virtual again this year. We miss the atmosphere of gathering in-person and will continue to re-evaluate next year, but we’re also thankful for the attachment people have to our online social space, and want to keep our little celebration as accessible as possible!
🧺 Roguelike Celebration Meetup at GDC! 🧺
We’re looking into hosting an in-person meetup in San Francisco, the Sunday before GDC (March 19th)! We wanted to find some way to host an in-person event, and this seemed like a natural fit, given our previous in-person Roguelike Celebrations in SF and the roguelike GDC meetup Slashie traditionally hosts in Yerba Buena Gardens.
This would be a casual hangout with no formal schedule, for folks with a shared appreciation for all things roguelike and procedural to catch up and have friendly conversations. It would be entirely outdoors in a park accessible via transit, with no GDC badge required, and enough room to social distance according to individual comfort levels.
📋 Interested in attending? 📋
If you’re at all interested in attending, please fill out this survey by February 5. (We’re trying to get a rough headcount so we can settle on a venue ASAP.)
Expect to hear from us more in the spring as we open the call for proposals and kick off the main event for Roguelike Celebration 2023. We hope to see some of you in March, and the rest of you in the social space this fall!
Live and drink,
The Roguelike Celebration Organizing Team
