Developers: Join our Steam Sale! (and CFP reminder, request for volunteers)
🎮 We're running a Steam Sale again, and we're looking for games! 🎮
Hello fellow enthusiasts of roguelike and roguelike accessories! We're running a Steam Sale for Roguelike Celebration, as we've done for the past three years, and we want the best games you have to offer! If you're a developer, or know developers who'd be interested, we'd love to hear from you.
📝 Details and Dates 📅
The event will run Thursday, October 17 - Wednesday, October 23. Those who have roguelike or roguelike-adjacent games on Steam can apply by filling out this interest form by August 1st. We expect to respond to all submissions by mid-August.
Here's a couple of things to note when submitting:
We hold to a very broad definition of "roguelike" in this context. You can look at our previous events (2021, 2022, and 2023) for examples of what kind of games we run. If in doubt, submit it anyway!
Interest has historically been very high, so not all submissions will be featured.
Related to the above, we've decided to limit it to one game per developer, as defined by the Steam categorization.
Your game doesn’t have to be released, but it does need to have a Steam page.
The dates are very close, but not back-to-back with Valve's own Return of Steam Scream Fest (see here). Unfortunately, you will not be able to discount your game in both. This doesn’t disqualify you from submitting—you can still have your game in our event without a discount—but if you’re concerned or have questions, please reach out.
Also, some people have asked us about the relationship between event speakers and sale participation. To be clear:
You do not need to be an event speaker to be featured in the sale.
You do not need to submit to the Steam Sale to speak at Roguelike Celebration.
❗ Call For Proposals Reminder ❗
If you've somehow missed it, our call for talk proposals is also open until July 31!
❗ Call For Volunteers ❗
We're looking for volunteers to help out for Roguelike Celebration 2024! No specific skills are necessary to help out. We're looking for people be both be on the planning committee and for day-of moderators. Things which our volunteers do include but are not limited to speaker communication, tech tests, talk selection, website and MUD updates and development, social media posting, and whatever else needs to be done. Please reach out to us at contact@roguelike.club if you're interested.
As always, feel free to reply to this email with any questions or concerns you might have. We're happy to help talk through talk ideas, or answer anything else you might need help with.
Looking forward to October,
🔥💦 The Roguelike Celebration organizing team💦🔥
