What do you mean, it's not Tuesday night?

Readers, All,

Well, it finally happened. I missed sending the newsletter out on Tuesday night as scheduled and as I have managed to do for the 30 weeks since starting this little science project. It’s not even that I forgot about it, either. I remembered at 2am as we were going to bed. To sleep. AleXander, to his credit, asked three times if I was SURE I didn’t want to get back up and get this out.

I was sure.

So here we are! A sunny, beautiful Wednesday morning and the world did not end because I neglected to get back up last night and put this together. Encouraging, I’d say. What resilience! What commitment!! Keep it up.

Also, keep cooking! Now that our restaurant experiences are limited to carry out or delivery, many New Yorkers are discovering that the room with the stove, refrigerator, and sink is actually very handy to have.

And is turning out to be pretty good at it

The novelty of empty New York streets is wearing a bit thin. So, we all may as well stay home and cook.

It may look like New York, but it’s not

However, all of us living in destination cities do owe our AWOL tourists an apology. I can’t believe I’m saying it, but I miss those silly people who insist on walking four abreast down the sidewalk, gawking and taking selfies every step of the way.

An open letter from all the destination cities that dissed you over the years

As to fiction, this piece was my first to be published in an anthology. It won Honorable Mention in the Gertrude Press fiction contest and, as with everything I wrote until Medium, I did not earn a penny from that admittedly happy-making experience.

And here we have this week’s haunting and evocative contribution from AleXander, my partner in life and art.
