Wait! There's MORE!
Hello, Readers All,
So from our somewhat shaky but still quiet perch uptown, the Anomalous Duo* is riding out the latest here in NYC. We had a bit of a taste of how intense things are getting down in the Union Square area on Saturday when we bussed it down for a slice of Joe's. Seeing a burning (police car) four blocks away and feeling the energy change alarmingly quickly around us as unmasked people dashed past us toward that car, yeah. We're done. We did a serious stock-up and can deal with whatever next thing to hit hits.
While we watch a LOT of movies, and always have, it struck me recently that until the Virus and its entourage (you know, riots and looting and helicopters flying very low), how much time we spent in darkened rooms sometimes with hundreds of other people, all looking in the same direction, ready to be entertained. That's certainly on the List of Things We Won't Be Doing for Some Time to Come.

Spectator vs Participant
We did catch the news that Gem Spa was among the (probably thousands of) businesses not to survive the coming of the Virus and the accompanying shut down of the city. We thought we knew about losing places and shops and businesses in this city, but we'll never know the full extent of the damage being inflicted.

Now we do
As bad as things are with the prospect of worse to come, it's heartening to know that for some people this is all very good news.

But we've always got fiction, haven't we? And this story is pretty special. AleXander and I collaborated on a limited edition hardcopy book of this story, "Seamless", that included a number of pieces of his original collage work. We had to twist some arms, but we did manage to sell enough copies to cover our expenses in publishing the book, but (good news for you!) there are still some left from that very limited printing. Interested? Shoot me an email and we'll figure something out. In the meantime, here's the story and, curiously enough, it's turned out to be quite timely.

AleXander's contribution to this week's newsletter is the poem, "The Cat that Roared", which is really fun.

So here we still are, shut-ins who are up to page 281 in our reading of "Infinite Jest" (and, yes, it's really messing with my head again this time), and have enough groceries to wait out whatever military or police shenanigans the nimrods in charge come up with this time. Never a dull moment!
As ever, here's the old email address: Remington.Write@gmail.com
And thank you for subscribing and reading. No plans to monetize this baby, so your opening, clicking, and reading are that much more special. Thanks!
