The Vacation Ends
Hello, Readers All,
You can't really call this past two years a vacation, but it has had vacation-like elements. Or did before our friend, the virus, showed up. At any rate, it's all over now Baby Blue because tomorrow I start work. Like at a job. A job where I'll receive a weekly bribe in the form of a paycheck.
The good news - to me - is that it's part-time and it's a "real" W-2 job, not some sketchy 1099 contract gig. I interviewed last Monday and by Thursday I had a job offer.
I am trusting that this means I'll be able to keep inventing fresh stuff to bring to you weekly. We'll see how it goes.
In the meantime, the new silence from outside the living room and bedroom windows tells me something important: I didn't need to go full Karen to achieve that silence. That could end at any moment, btw, but that is most appreciated now.

Save me from my worst impulses!
I'm back to lurking above the streets of St. Petersburg (Russia, not Florida) via webcam again these days and that prompted this series of reflections that one reader mistook for, ahem, "cultural relativism". Knock yerself out, buddy.

What if we’ve been lied to about them all along?
I actually wrote this one before getting that job offer, but given it's part-time work I'll still be chewing on this line of reflection. Any experience with this?

Reaching back to fiction, I'm sharing the story behind the story of my first completed piece of short fiction. I hope Ike's life has been easier than it was when we first met.

Everything On The Lines
If you've checked your calendars you know that next Saturday is John Lennon's birthday. Unlike 2016 when we celebrated his birthday at the lighting of the Peace Tower in Iceland, we're planning on being back at Strawberry Fields this year singing along with the usual suspects and any lucky tourists.

You'd think that with the prospect of a steady paycheck I'd ditch the old hat-by-the-door routine, but you'd be wrong to think that. Clearly, I'm not in this for the money but as a certain Good Book would have it: The laborer is worth his hire. I labor. You're welcome to toss coins into the hat to show that I'm worth the hire (but really having your eyes on the work is the big payoff for me).
https://ko-fi.com/remingtonwriteHere we return to my traditional hundred thousand thank-yous. There are a couple of new subscribers to welcome and the staunch and steady 40 or so who just keep coming through. Damn, people, you are awesome!

I can't wait to see what I come up with this week!
