The Day Has Arrived

Hello, Readers All,

I know not everyone’s on board with a writer who isn’t pumping out the new work nice and regular-like but you were warned. And a bunch of you assured me you’d be ok when this day hit. Actually this week, the one in which I have written not one new piece for Medium. And, yes, the reason for the lack can be summed up in one word: “Graceless”. Ok, two. “Graceless” and laziness. Grace got all the juice I had this week.

What I do have, however, are nicely refurbished pieces that have stood up well (I think). You tell me.

Opinion: Stay in New York and Brag About It | Remington Write | NewsBreak Original

Trust me, you’re going to have a lot of stories to tell. I know. It’s been a very long couple of years. Hell, it’s been a tough decade or two for anyone paying attention. 9/11, Hurricane Sandy, stop & frisk, Chick-Fil-A. Covid-19. Inflation. The hits keep coming. But if you made it this far, hang on. No one moves to New York City looking for peace, quiet, and front porch swings. In the best of times, living in any big city in the USA is a roll of the dice.

This one is fun because of the comments. Hooooo! We are in SO much trouble!

Opinion: Now We SUPPORT War? | Remington Write | NewsBreak Original

Now. Stop designing and building more and more sophisticated weapons systems. Stop the killing right this minute. Everyone, go home. All the rich nations (who got rich by plundering everyone else) are hereby charged with helping all the broken nations rebuild and doing so pro bono. War is nothing more than theft and murder. When someone does that to one person, it’s illegal. When entire countries do it to tens of thousands, even millions, of people they write it up in history books.

And under the heading of do as I say, not as I do…or at least used to do, is this gem that I published on Vocal Media where I’m up to a grand total of forty seven cents earned. Clearly, I am on fire!

Hitchhiking Alone | Wander

Just because I got away with it doesn’t mean it’s a good idea

And this week’s new contribution from my partner in life and art is a video he compiled from clips he shot at the 41st annual Mermaid Parade in Coney Island. Fun fact: it was my first Mermaid Parade and I’ve been in the city nearly a quarter of a century! Why rush things?

I realize it takes a lotta nerve to nudge the hat towards Readers who may feel they didn’t exactly get their money’s worth this week. Look at me, doing it anyway!

And there we are. And here you still are and how awesome is that?!

And, yes, it’s time to get back to work. (thank you!!!)
