So I'm dithering, I'm still writing
Hello, Readers All,
Thanks for the totally informal responses to my totally informal survey. And........I'm not going with Substack after all. AleXander, the greatest partner of all time, jumped first and set up an account. We both agree that the format and overall feel of Substack isn't what we're after.
I really like Buttondown and am tinkering with setting up a paid subscription option for those who are in a position to support me that way while keeping the free option because that's what I'd choose if it was up to me. Follow that? Cool. I'll keep ya posted and thanks for the shout-outs. Very encouraging!
SO, I made it through April, writing and publishing a new story each day which netted me the grand total of $48 Big Ones on Medium. I will be spending it in one place and Con Edison appreciates the bucks.
The endless tension between doing the work and what that effort deserves is something I wrestle with on the page over and over. Here's my latest tug of war with that issue.

Remember when we took pictures with a camera and then took film to the drugstore and then waited to see what we'd managed to catch with our Kodak Instamatic? I used to dream of having a camera that showed me exactly what I shot as soon as I took the picture. Whatever else is completely whack in our world today, at least that wish came true and here's what I do with that camera.

And after the April marathon I wrote this bon bon just to amuse myself. I hope you're amused, too.

The final piece of April's never-named daily writing project is also the first chapter of "Graceless", my still-unpublished novella. I'm considering offering a chapter a week to anyone who wants to sign up for the pay-what-you-want option that I'm still fussing with here on Buttondown. See what you think. If you really want to read more we can work something out.
(But as God is my witness that novella is not going to be published or marketed through Amazon)

Heavy going this week, huh?
You ain't seen nuthin' yet. Here's where AleXander's wandering mind wandered off to this week. Tough reading but really important.

So, here's the deal, Readers All, I tried earlier this week to set up the paid subscription option but have no idea if I was successful. We'll see what happens when I hit send this week.
Just in case, the hat is still by the door and a thousand thanks to those generous readers who faithfully drop coins in week after week.
https://ko-fi.com/remingtonwriteThere we are. I wrote. You'll read. All will be right in the universe whether we are aware of it or not. I so appreciate your time and feedback and support. What incredibly wonderful people you are!
