No, Virginia, NYC is NOT post-COVID.
Hello, Readers All,
You’ll forgive my tunnel vision with this pandemic, but it’s kind of all there is some days. I read the opening paragraphs of an editorial in The Daily News (I know, I know) and the screeching about the utter and immediate necessity to reopen all restaurants, gyms, movie theaters, and saunas in our “post-COVID” city was deafening. What an idiot! Until we live in a post-COVID world, there’s no such thing as a post-COVID city. BAH!!!
How did we get to this place, anyway? Well, this certainly hasn’t helped.

SO eighteenth century! Why are we still doing this?
There’s this thing that happens when you aren’t paying attention: you get older. And weirdly, people SEE you as old. Like this:

Geriatric follow-up care for who exactly?

On the fiction front, my partner AleXander and I have embarked on a new collaboration. In August 2020, AleXander set himself the challenge of creating a daily digital collage based on an image and a concept. The image was that of the antique Omega watch that belonged to his Mom and the concept was Time. In September 2020, the Anomalous Duo (that’s us, btw) are challenging ourselves to write a short piece of fiction for each collage. The Our Hours Project!
Here are our first stories and as of today, September 7 2020, we’re at work on our seventh stories.

Now about that annoying broken Ko-fi link. First, it’s not broken. I know it looks broken, but when I select it from the email or the web site version of the newsletter, it opens. I’ve written to the helpful folks at Buttondown to figure out why it looks broken, but I’m going to attach it here again this week. In case anyone would like to buy me a well-earned cuppa coffee after reading something they like a lot. It happens.

Until next week! RW
