New Year, New....Whatever

Hello, Readers All,

Having successfully escaped 2022, it's clearly time to haul all the cliches out to scatter them all over the place. Resolutions? Stack 'em over by the door, you know, next to the hat (wink, wink). Ruminations and Regrets, those go out to recycling. Affirmations of the New Improved You can just be left with the rest of the cliches because we all know any "improvement" is almost certain to be temporary.

With that out of the way, let's get to it, shall we?

It wasn't even remotely affordable for us these days, but I still got us tickets to see Eddie Izzard's "Great Expectations" at the Greenwich House Theater. Having seen him previously at Madison Square Garden and the Beacon Theater, it was thrilling to be in the second row of the tiny theater in the Village to see him bring all Dickens' characters to life. Then I went home and - what else - wrote about it.

We aren’t just an invisible applause machine

Having watched Eddie work - and work brilliantly - I'm back to writing about work. I suspect I might write more about work than I do actual work. Discuss.

Was it always this complicated?

For those thinking I exaggerate (special shout out to my partner in life and art for allowing me to use his art for this story)...

That clunk you hear? That’s me.

While I have been reworking older pieces to publish on Newsbreak, real life gave me the goodies (so to speak) to write a new piece just for that platform. Lemons, lemonade. You know.

Harlem Tenants Still Waiting for Hot Water | Remington Write | NewsBreak Original

Two and a half days of begging before finally getting repairs made and two days later, no hot water. No showers for TriHill tenants in Harlem /Photo byTammy Remington. Tenants living at one of many buildings managed by TriHill Management, LLC, were facing the long holiday weekend without hot water. This is not a new situation for people in many of this company’s buildings. As recently as two weeks ago, several tenants of this building were left without heat for weeks. It turned out to be a simple case of clearing the lines, but the inexperienced “interim super” that was sent didn’t know how to do this.

And bringing things to a close this week is the final installment of said partner's December daily writing project. In case you're wondering why you didn't overhear any of these things, well now you know.

And if you shove those Resolutions out of the way, there's the hat. I contemplated getting a new hat for 2023, but that seemed silly. This one is fine. As are the readers who so generously drop coinage into it. My heartfelt thanks!
