Mea Culpa (but not really)
Hello, Readers All,
Full disclosure, the piece I started several weeks ago to publish on Medium got shunted aside. This is to say that there is no new Medium work to bring to the table this week. I don’t expect that’s breaking any hearts but wanted to be clear that it’s not because I haven’t been dutifully setting up the screen daily to write (special shout out thanks to my writing buddy).

So what was The Lady Writer doing if she wasn’t fiddling away to get more work up on Medium? Well, it appears that I’ve successfully removed all the hyperlinks from the text of “Plague Year” and added Ian Young’s shining, beautiful blurb to the back cover. Next step, submit as a second edition and order a proof copy to be sure.
I also re-tooled an older piece for Newsbreak. The racist screeching is up to nearly 600 comments on the earlier piece about reparations (people are coming unhinged). I did note that it’s been liked 137 times and shared 102 times, so there might be a couple of somewhat balanced comments in there that I’m never going to see. No way will I willingly sift through that pile o’crap!

The “new” piece seemed innocuous enough:
Opinion: You Don't Own Property
I’ve never understood the drive to own a single-family home. Those money-pits are nothing but work and worry. No matter how well-off you are and how easily you can afford to hire contractors to come in and fix the roof, the basement, the retaining walls, the shower, the toilet, the garbage disposal, the garage door (it goes on), you still have to call someone and hope they don’t rip you off.
However, it’s up to 175 comments with 44 likes. At any rate, the haters have made a cool $20 for me so far. Keep screeching, angry people.
This week I plan to send out several more queries to small publishing concerns to find a good home for “Graceless” and to play around with the next idea. All this means that I may or may not get around to new work on Medium.
While I’ve been jumping back into the writing groove, my partner in life and art has been developing his video skills. AleXander used a recent early morning walk in the North Woods in Central Park to create a new video complete with original music he synced up with the visuals. Enjoy!
There’s the hat by the door with a big, glittery thank you card leaning against it. All coinage is especially appreciated now that the regular paycheck is no longer coming in.

Time to get back to it (thank you!!)
