Let's not rush things, k?

Hello, Readers All,

So it’s officially autumn which means it’s the perfect time to try out the whole Citibike thing for the very first time. It’s a real roll of the dice. My first bike was unstable and the handlebars wobbled terribly so that by the time we’d managed that first killer hill on the west side of Central Park (me walking most of the way, btw), I was shaking from the stress of keeping the thing going in a straight line. The second bike was much more stable and that part of the ride was fun. $14 for that little experiment. That’s life.

Here’s an unwelcome truth: I’ve been so busy writing fiction for Our Hours that I haven’t been writing much else. That’s enough, right? Fortunately, after nearly two years of nearly daily writing and publishing, I’ve got a healthy backlist.

Curiously enough, it took me until about two years ago to simply tell someone “no” without explaining myself.

Scarcity vs abundance, a topic that never gets old.

The old scarcity vs. abundance conundrum

We recently found out that one of my favorite diners, Good Stuff on 14th Street, has been wiped out by the pandemic and there are certainly many more businesses going down. Here’s one that went down long before the pandemic, but that I got to enjoy for years.

And now, back to Our Hours. This week I’m bringing two different stories, but AleXander’s version is linked to the bottom of my story and vice versa. Follow?

First mine: Twilight Time.

And then AleXander’s: The Golden Hour

And just because it actually works now, I’m going to continue to including the Ko-fi link because maybe you’ll be so entertained by something you read here that you’ll want to toss a few coins into my outstretched hat.

Regardless of any coins in the hat or not, the fact that there are people - like yourself - subscribing and reading my work is thanks enough.

No promises about more new essays next week. We’re down to the last seven Our Hours and that’s the priority.

As ever, insincere compliments and sincere insults are always welcome at: Remington.Write@gmail.com

Thanks so much! RW
