Horse Latitudes and Other Woes

Hello, Readers All,

First, gigantic big massive gratitude 'sploding all over the place to those who have bought copies of the "Plague Year", e-book and otherwise. With extra fluttering eyelashes to those who have taken the time to post their reviews on Barnes & Noble website as well as Goodreads and elsewhere. Wowsers!

As I dither with the next step for poor Grace, I feel as if I'm on a ship becalmed in the Horse Latitudes.

I'm not completely becalmed, however. Case in point:

Opinion: (Maybe) Death is a Privilege | Remington Write | NewsBreak Original

We don’t want to die. We don’t want those we love to die. We hate and fear death so much that we spend our lives distracting ourselves from this universal truth. Do you remember when your parents came to you with The Death Talk? I do. Mom and Daddy woke me up when I was, I think, four years old to tell me that our cat, Gypsy, got hit by a car and was dead. Yes, The Death Talk in the middle of the night when I was four. Good times.

True, I'm often sharing stories I've originally published on Medium that now also live on Newsbreak so that none of us have to deal with Medium's "friend" links.

While you may remember some of these, keep in mind that I always do a bit of a rewrite before submitting them to Newsbreak.

And then there's brand new stuff that gets a debut on Medium and then an encore on Newsbreak.

Opinion: After Two Years Without Snow | Remington Write | NewsBreak Original

There’s this thing I used to wonder at the start of every winter: Will this be the year I fall on the ice and break my butt? I haven’t had to wonder that for a couple of years now because our unfolding global climate catastrophe has all but eliminated snow and ice from this part of the world.

Staying relevant and timely, here's something you may be dealing with yourself or have friends who are looking into their prospects of escape.

Opinion: The Mad Rush for Dual Citizenship | Remington Write | NewsBreak Original

Where did you say your grandparents came over from?. A recent phone call wasn’t particularly curious or odd. Another friend is pursuing dual citizenship as a hedge against whatever the next catastrophe to slam into the United States turns out to be. In her case, it’s a spouse’s Irish grandparents that could be their ticket to relative safety. Are you hearing more of these kinds of conversations? Maybe you’re having them.

Exciting new fiction from my partner in life and art that takes its cues from some very real life experiences and then launches into dizzying new territory.

Enjoy!
