Glorious? Meh.
Hello, Readers All,
I'm guessing that due to the drought and successive insane heat waves out in the western part of the U.S., the whole fireworks thing might not be in full swing out there this year....but given how often I've seen unmasked people on public transportation throughout the pandemic, I have to believe that there are at least twenty yahoos out there somewhere who simply have to blow something up.
Not the actions of good neighbors, ya know?

I’m really worried about things out there now
Here in New York the fireworks are going full blast in every direction. At least this year they didn't start in May and go every night for months. Wasn't that fun?

Yes, this year the fireworks mean it's actually the Glorious Fourth when all good patriots fire up the grills and cook dead cows to celebrate their....freedom (?).

Too dark? Too cynical? Yeah and....?

I feel very lucky to have thrown my lot in with another un-holiday type in AleXander (we made damned sure we were back home with the fridge against the door well before the Macy's Madness got going over on the East River tonight). Speaking of my partner in life and art, we're celebrating his arrival back in New York eleven years ago this week after twenty years in Vermont.

And another week has whipped by so fast my head's spinning. Before you know it another of these whack job newsletters is going to show up in your inbox. Thanks as always for subscribing and reading. Without the forty or so regulars who always open the email and click on a story or two - yes, Buttondown snitches out those who don't! - I don't know as I'd remain true to Medium. But it gives me a reliable place to publish new work that looks great and occasionally gets noticed by The Google.
For anyone so inclined, there's a nifty blue link below where you can sign up for the premium newsletter (yes, there are goodies) and pay anything you like per month to help keep things afloat here. And there's always the hat by the door for anyone who cares to drop a few coins in to garner a place in Heaven (that's a lie).
