Expanding My Wee Empire
Hello, Readers All,
You may not have realized that you had gotten yourself mixed up in some flagrant empire-building when you signed up for this seemingly innocuous little newsletter.
HA!
World domination is my goal and I'm patient AF in my approach. I signed up to write in Medium's Writer Partner Program four years ago. In that time, I've written one thousand, one hundred, and one stories. Solid enough foundation for the launch.
Here are the two newest.

I want to know because that’s someone I’ll avoid
After dragging my feet for the past couple of years, I'm beginning to submit more work to two other platforms in addition to the work I publish on Substack. The lovely bit here is that there is no paywall.
Here's my latest published in Newsbreak.
Opinion: In Praise of Wallace Shawn | Remington Write | NewsBreak Original
Wallace Shawn looks positively cuddly, doesn’t he? With that goofy, cheerful grin and sly way of being just self-deprecating enough, the word affable comes to mind. Too many people only know of him due to his scene-stealing turn in "The Princess Bride” — incontheivable! — and that’s a pity because the guy is intimidating. And it shouldn’t be surprising given his father, William Shawn, edited The New Yorker from 1952 until 1987.
To long-time Readers, these may look familiar. Yes, these are stories I originally published on Medium. But they are not simply pasted into new platforms in order to wring more revenue from them (nice idea, though). Publishing these pieces on new platforms gives me the great opportunity to re-write them, sometimes quite extensively.
For example, here's a piece of fiction from 2021 that I spiffed up and published in Vocal Media.

Pay attention
My partner in life and art has set himself a new daily writing project and here's the first installment of conversations NOT overheard on the streets of New York.

There we go!
Hat's by the door along with several extra mushy thank you's (you know who you are). I am enormously grateful and humbled by your support.

You'll excuse me, but empire-building never rests.
Back to it!
